David, in terms of me not being able to make the numbers work, this morning I read (again) that the government has contracted with AZ for 61M doses. But AZ is a two-dose vaccine, so 61M doses can vaccinate only +/- 30M people. A 70% vaccination rate would require +/- 49M people, or +/- 98M doses. Do you have a feel for where/when the remaining doses will come?

Excellent! You hit on all my questions and worries. It's a cluster; one cannot make the supposed vaccination supply, logistics and administration work even if you try. Thank you!!

I hope at some point the atrocious treatment of Phuket expat retirees is laid bare for the whole world to see. Being retirees we are of an age group that is severely at risk and the authorities simply do not care that they are potentially exposing us to this virus without receiving inoculations. To add insult to injury they promulgate bare-faced lies about foreigners being able to get the vaccine. Witness the Bangkok post article saying all registered foreigners will be vaccinated from the 7th June. What the omit to say is that it is impossible to register. I and many of my friends have tried through different hospitals. The Bangkok Hospital in Phuket gave a categorical NO. After 15 years here, I am totally disgusted with the Thai xenophobic attitude brought on by an incompetent government. I have today given up and booked a flight home so we can get vaccinated. We expats have kept some areas in Phuket going over the last year keeping businesses and jobs afloat and handing out donations. There will be no more out of this pocket and God help the local businesses now as more and more expats return (mostly temporarily) to their homeland leaving them to the mercy of the sandbox which will be either a total failure or a total disaster but never a success.
