A sudden rule change and system glitches are making a mess of Thailand's program to drop quarantine for some inbound travelers, starting tomorrow. (Island Watch #9)
The reopening news just keeps getting better: 6000 new cases, 61 deaths, and now I read that shipments of the AZ vaccine will be just 50% of what was claimed/planned. Of course the fault lies with AZ; certainly not the 'special' biopharmaceutical company that has never before manufactured vaccines.
You are the quiet optimist; from here it looks like a 'cluster.' I note that the Ministry of Health likes to quote Thailand's very low world ranking in total number of cases, but I don't see them mention that recently Thailand is ranked #17 in daily new cases, and #13 in number of cases in serious/critical care. Combine this with a low overall population vaccination rate, many of which were a lower efficacy vaccine, all the chaos of last minute rule changes and testing costs, and the monsoon season just ahead and like you say: why not wait?
Thanks for the 411, David. A late November or early December arrival seems more feasible given the issues you describe. Let's hope these glitches get resolved soon and the vaccine rollout succeeds. Cheers.

I can't imagine trying to navigate the rule changes and actually form a travel plan...
